PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Good Wednesday morning everyone!

It’s a quiet start on satellite and radar this morning. We’ll see smaller rain chances ahead for this afternoon and those away from the coast as well. The coast continues its mainly dry streak.

A little fog is possible on the morning commute. We’re seeing it develop a bit more for inland areas this morning through about 8am.

Otherwise, we’re very warm and humid out the door once again today. And the heat cranks up a bit more in the afternoon today as well. Highs push up to near 90 on the coast to the low 90s inland. The only exception to the 90 degree mark will be beaches today with an onshore breeze from Gulf water temperatures near 80 to keep them closer to the mid 80s. But once you get a mile or so away from the relatively cooler Gulf, you’ll certainly feel the heat and humidity! Heat indices today reach up to the mid to upper 90s.

That heat and humidity, plus onshore sea breeze, typically sets the stage for some afternoon storm activity. However, with high pressure building in from the west in combination with a bit more drier air aloft, we’ll only manage to pop off a couple stray showers in the afternoon.

They’ll be more likely where we can generate the most heat. So maybe just a few stray showers along I-10 or north by the late afternoon. This will be the going pattern for us for the rest of the work week before widely scattered rain chances return over the afternoons of our weekend.

Bottom Line...

For today, mostly to partly sunny skies with an isolated stray shower or two along I-10 or north into the mid to late afternoon. Highs today near 90° with a heat index in the mid to upper 90s. Your 7 Day Forecast keeps us running mainly dry over the next several days with plenty of heat and humidity.
