WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A South Carolina man is behind bars after allegedly fleeing from cops across two counties Monday afternoon.

Bay County Sheriff’s deputies called deputies with Washington County about Kristopher Burton, 40, allegedly eluding law enforcement.

Officials said the pursuit started because of a stolen vehicle out of Alabama.

Burton allegedly led deputies north on SR 77, down Moss Hill Road into Vernon, then through SR 79.

He was booked into the Washington County Jail and was charged with fleeing and eluding at a high rate of speed. Officials said he also has multiple outstanding warrants and additional charges are pending.
