PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A man is facing charges after allegedly shooting another man in the stomach at a Panama City Beach neighborhood Monday night.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded to calls of a shooting that happened at a home on Annabella’s Lane around 9 p.m. They say deputies found Sabastian Spiegelhalter, 18, inside of a home with a single gunshot wound to his stomach. Spiegelhalter gave deputies a description of who shot him before being taken to the hospital.

According to BCSO, investigators talked with other people at the home where the incident allegedly happened. They say a semi-automatic handgun was found close to where Spiegelhalter was found injured. Investigators say that after interviewing people inside the home, they believed that Damenike T. Lakes, 18, was the shooter. Authorities say that Lakes later admitted to shooting Spiegelhalter.

During their investigation, BCSO discovered that Lakes might have been having sex with a 14-year-old. Lakes and the 14-year-old allegedly admitted to having sex at least three different times.

Lakes was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and three counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a minor under 16 years of age. He was booked into the Bay County Jail.
