JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) held a press conference Wednesday afternoon addressing the case of the children who went missing in Jackson County on Tuesday morning.

Sheriff Donnie Edenfield tells us that Tuesday, July 20, Jonathan Gonzales, his wife and her two children were driving through Jackson County when Gonzales began acting strangely. The sheriff tells us Gonzales then pulled a gun on his wife and forced her out of the vehicle. After she was out of the car he got into the driver’s seat and drove away with the children still in the car.

JCSO tells us Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the United States Marshal’s Service and all surrounding agencies in Florida, Alabama and Georgia assisted in the investigation and worked through the night to bring this case to a resolution.

Gonzales was located around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday in Macon, Ga. and both children were found safe.
