PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Good Friday morning everyone and TGIF!
It’s a quiet start on satellite and radar this morning with just a few clouds passing through. We’ll wait for the afternoon before we see any storms return to radar. They’ll be hit or miss across the Panhandle today.
We’re off to another warm and sultry start with dew points and temperatures both in the mid 70s. With plenty of sunshine out the door this morning, we’ll get hot and humid quickly! Highs today reach the low 90s with feels like temperatures in the triple digits. A Heat Advisory is in effect until 6pmCDT as Bay, Gulf, Calhoun, Liberty and Franklin Counties will have heat indices around 105-110° during peak heating of the day in the afternoon. Dress in loose and light colored clothing, take breaks in shade from outdoor activities, and stay hydrated.
High pressure is building in across the Gulf today and that’s helping to limit the number and size of our passing showers. That will change up our steering flow today, drawing in from the northwest. Day time heating and the sea breeze in the afternoon will help to develop the storms. They’ll be widely scattered from the coast on inland and may last about 30min if you catch one.
With a northerly steering winds we’ll be able develop widely scattered afternoon storms on Saturday as well. However, not as many storms are expected to develop, and it’ll be even drier in the rain department Sunday.
For today, mostly to partly sunny skies with hit or miss afternoon storms Highs today reach the low 90s with a heat index in the low triple digits. Your 7 Day Forecast has an unsettled afternoon for today and Saturday, however, showers and thunderstorms should be a bit more limited in numbers over the weekend, especially by Sunday.
