PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Good Monday morning everyone! We’re starting the morning off with cloudy skies across NWFL, but we’ll begin to see showers and thunderstorms move in late this morning.
Ida is now a tropical storm as it moves its way inland today. Ida will weaken into a depression later today as the system travels north through Mississippi. As this happens, the bands surrounding Ida will move into the Panhandle. This will bring stormy weather our way today. We could see periods of heavy rain with some of these bands. There is a marginal to slight risk for severe storms this afternoon. The isolated severe storms could bring gusts up to 60 miles per hour and hail around 1-2″. The western end of the Panhandle will have the better chances of severe weather as well as the larger rain totals. Over the coming days, we could see accumulations around 2-5″ as the storms will continue the next few days. The area will see drier weather return come Thursday.
