Oscar Patterson Academy zoning workshop
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Oscar Patterson Academy is preparing to reopen in Bay County next year; however, some students living nearby will be shuffling around.
The Bay District Schools Board Members met for a workshop Wednesday morning.
They’re trying to figure out how to rezone the elementary schools in the area to accommodate Oscar Patterson’s reopening. The Board heard a presentation from the Director of Student Services about how the new zones could impact surrounding schools, including Northside Elementary, Parker Elementary, Cedar Grove Elementary and Cherry Street Elementary.
The school board is expected to vote on the proposed zoning changes at a January meeting.
Oscar Patterson has been closed since Hurricane Michael and is set to reopen in August 2022.
